11/5/15
Wouldn’t it be nice if all of God’s blessings came in beautifully wrapped packages with big pretty bows so we could know immediately that it was a good thing? I wish this were true. Unfortunately, some of God’s biggest blessings are only made known after a hardship of some kind. A diagnosis of cancer may lead to a new appreciation of life. A divorce may lead you to the true love of your life. An unplanned pregnancy may give you the beautiful gift of a child.
I have never been good at waiting. I always believed that impatience was my middle name. As I am growing older though, I am trying to learn how to wait. The loss of my husband’s job a few years back made me really grateful for the new one he has. An illness that I had that made me stop teaching showed me that I love to write and illustrate children’s books.
What have you had to wait for? What challenges are you facing right now? What lessons might you learn from whatever hardship you are going through?
I pray that we can all learn to love the ugly, crumpled up gifts that we receive. May they in time prove to be the greatest, most beautiful blessing you have ever seen.
Thessalonians 5:18 Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. ESV
Blessings,
Marie
