8/29/2016 Happy Anniversary This weekend I was blessed to spend the weekend in New Orleans with my husband Harold. We just celebrated our 36th anniversary! I’m feel incredibly thankful to have reached this milestone! We live in such a crazy world these days. Marriage can be hard even when you love someone with all your heart. Our world tells us that we deserve the best, it’s all about us and we should put ourselves above everyone and everything else. I believe…..
Have you ever wondered why we have weeds? I’ve been helping a friend pull weeds in her yard. Often when I pull weeds I am reminded that weeds can be a lot like people. Have you ever thought about that? Some people are like beautiful flowers, always happy and smiling. Some people are just like weeds; crabby, ugly and quite a nuisance! I’m not saying all weeds are ugly, and I’m not saying people can be ugly all the time……
Summer is here! I knew it was coming but didn’t fully realize it until today. I decided to work outside around 11:00 this morning. It did seem hot but when I later watched the news the heat index had reached 95 degrees! It can get brutal way down in south Alabama! I love working in my garden! I am so grateful to be able to work outside and grow beautiful things in the earth. I am also thankful that God…..
I was given the beautiful gift of a grandson last week. When you hold a new baby in your arms for the first time, it’s hard to put into words how you feel. The promise of new life is limitless. My prayer for this baby boy is that he finds all the love he can ever need in his loving Christian home. I hope he will be raised surrounded by a wonderful church family where he will learn about God’s love. I hope he…..
Uncertainty! 1-23-2016 I hate uncertainty! Having always been somewhat of a control freak, I really hate it when the unknown is peering out in front of me and I have no idea what to do. I will give my worries to God but usually end up taking them back and worrying about them again. The bible says that God gives us trials to make us strong by learning to depend on Him. I don’t know about you but I am terribly…..
I love Christmas! It truly is the most wonderful time of the year. I love gazing at my Christmas trees. I have two and I may add another next year, if I can find room! I find the lights and the beautiful ornaments mesmerizing. The Christian symbols are my favorites! Angels, stars, crosses, etc., and other ornaments of all shapes and sizes. One tree is all silver and gold, the other is red. My favorite addition the past few years are chandelier crystals. They reflect the lights…..
I pray for anyone who has lost a loved one this year. Christmas should be a most wonderful time when we celebrate our saviors birth. But if you have lost someone you love, Christmas can be very difficult. Thirteen years ago I lost my parents in a house fire. It was the most devastating thing I have ever been through. It was difficult enough just handling the tremendous grief, but then came Christmas. I had not anticipated how hard it was going to be. …..
A few months ago, the Baldwin Courier was nice enough to publish a story about me and my book, God’s Glorious Garden. If you haven’t seen it, please check it out here!
Unfortunately, Satan is alive and well in our world today. If you don’t believe it, just turn on the TV for a few minutes. And people will say, “Where is God in all of this?” He is right here, just waiting on us to call on His name for help. As humans I believe we see what we choose to see, we can see good, or we can see evil. It’s easy to become overwhelmed in these difficult times. I am…..
11-30-2015 Precious Gifts While unpacking Christmas decorations, I found one of my most precious gifts. It’s a little mouse with a small chip out of one of its ears. It probably cost less than a dollar, and would have no value to anyone else. It is precious because a former student gave it to me. I worked at a very poor inner city school for two years. I think this is the only gift I received while teaching there. These…..
